Welcome to Churchdown Village Bowls Club (CVBC), formed in January 2021 and based in Churchdown, Gloucestershire. We play Green Bowls; an activity for summer months, and have our Green at Churchdown Club, where we are based. We are fortunate in our partnership with the Club, which offers extensive facilities.
This website will help you to find out more about us, learn how to become a member and view photos from our recent history. If you have any questions, please get in touch.
You can also download our Brochure and Constitution to find out more about us and the sport of Bowls in general...
Most Fridays early evening by arrangement we offer taster sessions when members of the public can visit us and try bowling a few ends. We always offer support and guidance if required.
If you wish to have a taster session, then please email us so that we can prepare for your arrival.
Early each year, usually May, we open our club to members of the public. This event is organised with the Churchdown Club and the Churchdown Tennis Club.
The public can learn about Bowls Club, Tennis Club, and the many facilities offered by the Churchdown Club. This is planned a month before and advertised in various ways.
We are based at and linked with Churchdown Club, which offers a bar, restaurant and lounge, as well as hosting Tennis and Skittles clubs and providing meeting rooms. You can find out more about the Club on their website. During winter we organise social events in a meeting room within the Churchdown Club. We also have use of a large public Car Park behind the Club.
We are proud of our south-facing, landscaped green with attractive views towards Churchdown Hill; complimented by a large seating area for guests. We have a club house where you can change before and after a game. This has ladies' and gentlemen’s changing areas.
We have spare bowls for use by novice members. These are used for our taster sessions. We also have some spare clothes that novice members may use.
We ask that novice members have flat soled trainers or shoes. Do not wear sandals as you may suffer an injury. Flat soled shoes allow the green to remain smooth, i.e. it does not cause any dips or ridges that will affect the path of a bowl.
CVBC is affiliated to the Gloucestershire Bowls Association (GBA) and to Bowls England as part of ensuring national and county administration is standard, additionally it offers access to resources and assistance as we need them. There is a members only area on the GBA site this offers actual bowlers more local resources and admin tools for county matches and competitions. For full access please contact our own Hon Sec for the password.
